About Danae
Danae’s Race” is in memory and honor of my youngest daughter, Danae Rachelle Baucom. The most common memories of Danae are her big beautiful smile that lit up a room and her boisterous laugh that was so infectious.
Danae was a friend to everyone she met. She touched so many lives in her 23 short years. I am still amazed that for someone who had so little, she gave so much to so many. Danae lost her battle with substance abuse on May 26, 2010. The call I received that fateful night is a Mother’s worst nightmare. -Rosanne (Danae’s Mom) My sweet niece, Danae Baucom, always had a huge smile on her face. She was the most lovable and affectionate person who always gave you a huge bear hug when you saw her. She loved to be around her family and more than anything she loved her two precious babies. Danae was my son's (her cousin) best friend for most of their childhood. They were born only two months apart and they had a special bond between them. They adored each other and spent a lot of time together. Danae had such a big heart and was always more concerned about other people's feelings or situations much more than her own. She loved to visit our house and ride the horses and just hang out to talk. I was honored to be called her Aunt. We loved to just talk about anything and everything. Sadly, our dear precious Danae was taken from this earth far too soon. She lost her battle with a substance addiction at the early age of 23. Unfortunately, she wasn't able to get the help she needed before it was too late. Our family has been devastated by this loss and we do not want even one more family to have to go through the pain of losing a family member or friend to substance abuse. In memory of our sweet Danae' we are holding the second annual 5K "Danae's Race". All of the proceeds will go directly to The Glass House (a women's substance abuse center in Lansing, MI). We need your help in getting the word out that there is help for these young women who are dealing with addictions. Please join us in helping this great organization, help these women who are hurting and struggling with addictions. Thank you so much! Sharon (Danae's Aunt) |
